Appearance

She has glasses she almost never wears; they don't help her vision by more than a slight fraction, so she uses them as an accessory. Her hair tends to do whatever it wants and be very resistant to curl, dyes, etc. She tends to grow it out for several years (even reaching as long as the back of her thighs at one point) before cutting it off and starting again. Although she likes hats, she rarely wears them, either.

Personality

She can be cheerful and outgoing or mischievous and playful, and it's probably how most people would describe her. In reality, she probably prefers quiet time to read a book or work on her writing - mostly poetry. Shy about friendships, she tends to be a lot more nervous than she comes off. She's also introspective and reflective, and enjoys listening to others or giving advice. The famous Poetess Ego, it should be said, is a joke all in good fun.

Witty at times, she enjoys overindulging in word-play or matching intelligence against someone. Chess was a favorite game growing up. As a Christian, she enjoys studying Theology or interfaith dialogue. History is another favorite pastime, especially Tudor England or Heian Japan although almost any time and place can catch her interest.

Very determined, she tends to be the sort who thinks there is always some way to do something, even if it's difficult or even if it's hard to figure out what that way might be. Enough patience and perserverence will find it. She almost enjoys being somewhat backed into a corner in a good game of strategy because it gives an opportunity to really scramble and use her wits to get out of it - although of course she'll try to prevent it from happening in the first place.

When focused, she can easily spend hours at the same task as long as it will reap a reward - practicing the piano, working on a piece of writing, working out at the gym. She does everything with a lot of enthusiasm and drive, although what it is that she's putting all that energy towards changes from time to time.

Her learning style is almost entirely verbal, followed closely by aural. Even her thought patterns are usually best described as an internal voice-over while doing math in her head rather than on paper is difficult since to her, it's visual; she envisions the math problem written out. [Verbal: 20/20, Aural: 19/20, Solitary: 17/20, Physical: 11/20, Social: 10/20, Logical: 6/20, Visual: 1/20]

Results of a personality test: You don't usually get angry too easily but some things can annoy you, however you feel strong cravings and urges that you have difficulty resisting. You tend to prefer short-term pleasures and rewards over long-term consequences. People generally perceive you as distant and reserved, and you do not usually reach out to others. You prefer familiar routines and for things to stay the same. You can tend to feel uncomfortable with change. You find helping other people genuinely rewarding and are generally willing to assist those who are in need. You find that doing things for others is a form of self-fulfillment rather than self-sacrifice, however you generally see others as selfish, devious, and sometimes potentially dangerous. You have a reasonable amount of will-power and are able to follow through on tasks that you feel you need to complete. You can be distracted however and have been known to procrastinate.

History

Born in Rochester, NY, she lived in the same house until she went to college; the family never moved until during her college years, at which point her family moved.

All during this time, and during high school, she was involved in many extracurricular sports and activities: softball, soccer, swimming team, tennis, cheerleading; chorus, orchestra (violin), jazz band (piano), and school musicals. Character or humorous roles were always her favorites.

During college, she had the opportunity to study abroad in order to improve her Frech (in Quebec) and Spanish (in Sevilla, Spain). Spain especially is one of her best memories. After earning her bachelor's degree, she was married. She and her husband moved to South Korea teaching English, and spent three consecutive years there before returning to the States for a few years.

Abilities/Strengths

Intelligence - Particularly verbal. Learning and studying come easy to her, and her 'ideal' life might well involve taking university classes and earning degrees one after another if it doesn't involve being a writer. Her learning style is incredibly verbal or auditory, with everything visual at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. As a result, quoting things she's heard (whether a novel or movie or a class lecture) comes very easily to her, which makes remembering information easy.

Verbal - The Poetess has had some success, and some of her prose writings have, too. Here's to good luck with a manga script or perhaps novel. She's always sort of wanted to work on a few children's books, too. A published writer was the first thing she ever wanted to be, when she was about five years old. Growing up, the Library was a de facto babysitter. It shouldn't be a surprise she was in trouble in school most often for sneaking a book to read under her desk and at home for staying up past her bedtime to read. Word games are a cinch.

Languages - Mostly fluent in Spanish and French, she enjoys learning foreign languages. When she was about seven, she decided she wanted to learn Spanish because she wanted to go to Spain some day. This dream was realized when she studied abroad her junior year of college as a Spanish major. Spring in Sevilla, Spain is beautiful and she felt the most at home there of anywhere she's been or lived as she participated in Semana Santa (Easter Week) and Feria (April Fair) celebrations.Next up: Korean?

Piano - She played the piano from the age of four until college. Unfortunately, since then there hasn't been much time to pursue it actively.

Weaknesses

partial colorblindness - Yes for real! Red/green deficient specifically, it makes it hard to see colors that contain those within them as well. Don't ask what colors look like or she gets to ask what they look like to you. &hearts

vision/depth perception - She only uses one eye. As a result, she has very little (read: no) depth perception. Mild astigmatism doesn't help.

phobias - She's still afraid of dandelions (thanks [info]pana for the visual aid). Oh, and potato eyes creep her out if the sprouts get long at all.

Special Items

Dark Kingdom/PGSM mug - a mug with a chibi Dark Mercury picture (from Pretty Guardian Sailormoon) and the line "Dark Kingdom Banzai!!" from the shitennou cast goodbyes clips. It was a present! &hearts

Bradley - The Borders teddy bear from the holidays of 2006. Very cute and soft, and a nice memento of working there.

Chess Medal - Thanks to winning it at Thanksgiving a few years back, she currently holds her extended family's chess medal, a medallion that gets passed around. The current owner has to accept all challenges, and give it up if they're beaten.

Baseball Cards - Growing up, she would buy a pack of baseball cards about once a week. She actually still has her entire collection but hasn't looked through it in several years.
